Common New Construction FAQs

  • How long does it take to build a new home? Building a new home takes between 4 to 5 months. The time varies depending on factors that can be beyond control, including weather and material availability, as well as factors such as size and customization.   • Can I customize the home? We have designed a range of thoughtfully designed homes to meet a variety of needs and preferences. From there, we do include some customizable options that help you personalize your home. We also have a design center and catalog that offer an extensive range of choices for finishing details ranging from the exterior of your home to the interior. This includes door handles, flooring, windows, blinds, countertops, cabinets, appliances and much more.
  • Are new construction homes more expensive? While the initial cost of a new home compared to an existing home may be more expensive due to modern materials and practices, they have lower ongoing costs due to energy saving features, warranties, and no need for renovations.
  • What is included in the base price? The floor plan, standard features, and some landscaping are included, with upgrade options available that may cost more.
  • Are there warranties with a new home? We offer a 2-10 warranty program that offers a 10-year structural warranty on the home’s foundation and frames, along with shorter warranties for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, as well as manufacturer warranties for appliances.
  • Are new homes more energy efficient? Between modern building practices, improved insulation and windows, along with Energy Star-rated appliances and systems, most new homes are noticeably more energy efficient than previously owned homes.
  • What should I know about the builder? Research their reputation and online reviews, and ask to see previous homes. Also be sure to confirm they have appropriate licensing and certifications, and ask about post-sale support.
